How did you hear of this site: by searching on Yahoo.com

Comments:   I wish to say that my name is Julian Paul Grzeskow and I was born in February 1963 in Dulwich, South East London. I have no siblings and my mother's name was Jozefa Grzeskow and her grandfather was called Lucascz Grzeskow and her mother was named Maria Grzeskow and they lived on a farm at a palce called Buczescz, Poland. Once the Second World War started in 1939, my mother was separated from her parents and she was sent to Nurnberg to work as farm labour. She had no idea of what happended to her other siblings and step-siblings and I have had no contact with any family member by the surname of Grzeskow. I presume that my mother was the only Grzeskow to settle permanently in England whilst many Grzeskows chose or were able to settle in the USA. I have no idea if we are in some related but I wish you all well.

Comments:   My great-grandfather was William Gresko. I've been told that his name originally was Gregory Vilk but that it changed to William Gresko when he came to the US from Slovakia in the 1890's. He didn't speak English and confusion over the "last name first, first name last" business at Immigration resulted in the mix-up. He was born ca 1875 and, at an early age, went to live with the wolves, hence the name "Vilk", which means "wolf" in Slovak. He died ca 1950. My grandfather was Michael Gresko. He was born in Slovakia on 13 Nov 1891. He came to the US at an early age and the family settled in Barnesboro, PA. He moved to Binghamton, NY and raised

Comments:   Greetings to all Gresko's. I can write the book on Gresko's, plz. e-mail me with any questions.3 years of intense reasearch and networking have shown me that there are a few Gresko roots. There is a Czeck/ Slovak Gresko line that I know very little about. My line derives from Grzeskow (pronounced Gzhesh-koof)Known to originate from towns sush as Czortkow (Jagialnica), Borsczcow,Trembowla; now Ukraine, formerly Poland/ Galicia. also known to come from towns in Poland. It is definitely a Polish name, origin Unknown, traced back as far as 1741(Jagialnica).
Fascinating! Has anyone else gone back this far?
Also many variations that were not shortened eg: Grzeskowiak etc, etc... Also Russian variant probably not related to Polish root but not Known.
