January 8 Weather very warm for the past week.
12 Weather warm and muddy.
13 Snow 3 inches in the mud.
14 Cold but no sleighing.
15 Warm and thawing.
22 Raining 8 p.m. Not very cold.
27 Court this week & raining; not very cold. Band
concert & gift entertainment last night.
Feb. 3 Snowed last night 8 inches.
14 John Schooley came here.
16 Quit using cows milk.
17 Warm and muddy. Boro election today. John F.
Donalson buried today.
19 Cold today. No snow yet. Will Gurnsey was
brought today from Chicago a corpse. Very cold
tonight.
22 A fire broke out last night about 12 o'clock and
burned all of that wooden block owned by Mordica
Sears, E. H. Hastings, Charles Sears and others.
They were the only wooden buildings on the west
side of the street between the bank and the
Parkhurst House. Weather more moderate today,
thaws some. No snow.
24 Old Mr. March buried today. John Schooley went
away this morning.
28 Mrs. B. Christnot has a boy baby.
29 Weather warm. Good sugar weather.
March 11 Snow 4 inches deep and quite cold.
12 Heifer had a calf last night, nice heifer calf.
13 Cetta a pair of new shoes-----1.60.
14 Grandma Sears died this morning at 10:30 o'clock
The weather moderate and thawing some.
16 2 or 3 inches more snow. Grandma Sears buried
today.
18 Chickens are hatching. Got a bad cold. The
weather moderate.
19 Snowed most all day. Moses & Harris here
tonight.
23 First churning today.
30 Paid note to E. J. Brown. Weather quite warm; a
north wind.
April 1 Grace a new pair of shoes. Ma Kimble a new pair
of shoes.
4 Rained hard last night & thunder. Mr. Miliken
very sick.
10 Mr. Miliken died this morning at 8 o'clock.
They take him to Elmira for burial.
15 Raining and quite warm.
30 Quite a good deal of rain at this time but
cooler. This is the last day of school.
May 9 Very warm and dry, needs rain to start the
pastures.
10 Took cow to pasture to Kelseys. Marshalls cow
has a calf.
13-14 Two pretty hard frosts which has killed some of
the early kinds of fruit. Apples are not
forward enough to be all killed. Thermometer 12
degrees below zero.
15 There will be a frost tonight.
30 Rained hard last night and this morning.
Fourpaughs great show was here the 28.
31 Very warm today. Fine growing time.
June 1 Old Mr. Eberenz died today.
5 Will Deming died today with the smallpox.
Raining some, a fine growing time.
8 Susie Hamilton has a boy baby a week old today.
15 Raining today. Balfours boy buried today.
16 Got a sack of flour, $1.75. Mr. Sammy was
married March 22--1880.
19 To heifer to J. P. Smith B. It's very warm
today.
30 Came home from York State. Father is quite
poorly. Daton Gilbert buried today. Very warm
today. Rained yesterday quite hard.
July 6 Had a letter from home today. Father is better.
29 Weather good for haying.
August 3 It rained hard all day today and yesterday and
last night. The ground is pretty pretty well
wet down. A cinnamon B went town today.
7 It's rained for three days steady and has
cleared off warm again. Excursion to Watkins
today the 26. Went upon the hill today and
picked 17 qts. of berries
9 Berwurt the painter was found dead in his field
where he sat down to rest by the side of a stump
or tree.
August 16 There was quite a frost last night, it touched
the corn in some places.
22 Weather warm, plenty of rain, potatoes rotting
some in the ground.
31 Raining today. Mrs. Dumo buried today. Lewis
here tonight.
Sept. 3 Very warm. Thermometer up to 90 in the shade.
A nice rain last night. Had no letter from home
or from Kit in a long time. John Dauson came
here to board the 21. Weather quite warm and
dry. Potatoes good but a rotting in some
places. Buckwheat is good and is worth 45 ct.
Potatoes and apples are both worth 25 cts. each
23 Corn 60 c. and oats is 30 cts.
Oct. 9 Paid Right Wetherbee for 20 bushels of winter
apples, $5.00. Weather warm days and frosty
nights. We had a good county fair the 5, 6 and
7th.
Nov. 1 Have had a splendid rain, somewhat cool but
sunny.
Dec. 2 Brills folks is back from Kansas, came last
night. No snow yet to speak of. Nathan
Walbourn died last night. He was up to
Whitneyville to H. R. Petries. Only sick
a short time with the fever. Sold calf to J. P.
Smith for 5 dollars in wood.
9 Hella Bullard & Frank Conevery was married today
at 2 p.m. by Dr. Breck & it's five years to
that Fi & Charley was married. It's very cold
but no snow yet.
14 Mrs. Dr. Archer was buried today. She was
staying at Mrs. John Dickinsons. Miles
O'Conners boy is buried today. Moses here
tonight.
24 To Gustas to dinner & snow about 6 in. deep.
29 Its very cold and good sleighing. Got a pair of
boots for myself & pair of calf shoes for
Cetta.
