Welcome to the Family Cairn. This genealogy site is a bit different than the rest so I felt I should state this right up front : I am not a genealogist. At one time I wanted to be, but I just didn't have the time to do it justice. My family has had many genealogist in it through the years, and here on this site you will find many of their works. I couldn't bare to see it just sitting in my relatives desk drawers, so I have reproduced their work here to share it with any who might be interested.

  • Couse: From the Kimble notebook below.

  • Kimble: [no title] A genealogy research notebook compiled through the years by Peter Kimble (1883), Eva May Kimble (1951), and Doris Frank Campbell & Naomi Greenfield Gee (1982)
  • Greenfield: From the Kimble notebook above and from my Grandmother, Edith Marion Greenfield Smith (1919 - 2002), her cousin Doris Frank Campbell, and distant relations, Jim Greenfield and William G. O'Brien (in the 1990s)

My family has been very fortunate to have within it's numbers many genealogists and historians who have kept such copious notes and journals that I felt I should share them with others. This site is my attempt to compile my family's works. I present them as a tribute to my family and in the hopes that others who view them may recognize a lost link in their own family's past.

The main lines my family has followed are Kimble, Hollands, Call, Oakes and Greenfield, with a few pages for our Scott line. Most of my family's information centers in the New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York area of the United States. Of course, as all families do, my family has intertwined with many others and reached to many corners of our small planet. I invite you to view my Index of Names and hopefully find a link or two to your own past.

Personal note: This site has been up for over seven years now and, according to my counter, currently has on average more than 1200 visits every month to it's various pages. I've been reunited with some lost cousins, made many new friends, and also learned of a few lost ancestors to add to my family's books. Though I once hoped to jump into genealogy with both feet, I'm find that as a working mother, I just don't have the time available it takes to be as thorough as is needed. Because of that, I have chosen to share my families books here, but remind you that, for the most part, this is not my research, but work that was done by my relations. Until the time I can take a more active approach (ie, my son is older), I will be content to just share my family's work here on this site, with as many of you as wish to view it.

Important:
  • Many people have posted their genealogy information in my Guestbook for other visitors to read. The entries are broken down by surname to make it easier for you to locate possible links to your own families.
